Camp Canine’s 2023 Highlights

It’s hard to believe 2023 has come to an end. From romantic doggy Valentine’s Day dates to spring fling photoshoots in our magical garden; and from our first-ever Doggy Rave to hosting the Upper West Side’s Doggy Trick or Treat Night, we experienced so many awesome moments with your pups!

  • We started the year off with a bang that we called ‘Daycare Dash’! If a dog attended daycare on Fridays, Saturday, Sundays or Mondays, they’d earn one point per day. Then, at the end of each week, prizes were awarded to our top point earners! Daycare Dash ended with an exclusive party that dogs over a certain point threshold were invited to – but we’ll get to that!

  • In February we held our classic ‘Romantic Valentine’s Day Dates’ in Central Park. Once your pup was signed up for a V-Day date, our Counselors would play matchmaker and invite your pup’s crush – they’d then spend an afternoon in the park together with a dozen roses and a puparazzi who was there to snap pics!

***

  • We hosted a Kissing Booth on Valentine’s Day as well! Pawrents could pose with their pups at the Kissing Booth while shopping Ted & Co. Pet’s Pawp-Up Shop in our lobby!

***

  • We announced our partnership with Bond Vet. Their incredible team is the clinic that we use any time we have a kitty or pup who needs some extra care!

***

  • Remember that exclusive Daycare Dash party? Well it was Camp Canine’s first-ever Doggy Rave! We had disco balls, glow sticks and blacklights – our pups love pawtying, and it made for a great reel.

***

  • We introduced our newest activity, our Bedtime Tuck-In Service. These Tuck-In’s include a bedtime snack and story read to your Camper before they’re tucked into their bunk for the night.

***

  • Spring arrived, and with it, we hosted a Spring Fling photoshoot. This was the first time we had our pups pose in a magical garden, and this photoshoot quickly became our client’s favorite! Sign ups for these photoshoots included a free gift.

***

  • We celebrated Mother’s and Father’s Day as we always do – with plenty of special memories caught on camera! We love setting up a photo booth and having our moms or dads stop by to take pics with their pups.

***

  • We hosted our first-ever New Client Mixer! It was a great night of mingling, gift bags and getting to know each other – there will be more in the New Year!

***

  • We kept our Foster Program with Animal Lighthouse Rescue going strong, officially fostering eight pups this year! All eight went on to find their forever homes – we as so happy to play a part in giving these dogs their second chance.

***

  • We created a generic craft time that our Brand Ambassador, Enzo, so studiously performed for us! In addition to our holiday crafts, our Campers can now paint the sunrise above an NYC skyline at any time of the year.

***

  • We officially launched our Creative Grooming service, spearheaded by our Creative Groomer, Anthony. He did some Valentine’s and Halloween looks, but his pièce de rèsistance came in the form of his incredible Pride Month look on his model, Roy! Roy turned heads around the Upper West Side for months.

***

  • And speaking of Pride Month, we hosted our first-ever ‘Drag Queen Story Hour’ with a local Drag Queen, Reese Havoc! The Campers loved Reese’s dynamic story telling and beauty!

***

  • We got Camp Swag! Our ‘My Pup is a Happy Camper’ tote bag went flying off the shelves. Get your own for $29 – just chat with our Receptionist!

***

  • We partnered with Shelby Semel Dog Training to bring you weekly dog training classes like Puppy Classes and Obedience Classes. We love the trainers at Shelby Semel and have seen the difference they make in the lives of our campers.

***

  • To celebrate the Dog Days of Summer, we hosted a hot dog eating contest! Dozens of our campers participated – but Piper took home the prize when she scarfed down her hot dog in 11 seconds. Pictured is Camper Charlie.

***

  • We hosted a week of art classes that culminated in a Camp Canine Craft Fair! Our pups could choose which masterpiece they wanted to make their own – including The Bark of Venus, The Mona Leasha, Dog with a Pearl Earring and Americanine Gothic. Before pawrents took their pups’ masterpiece home, they were displayed in the Craft Fair all weekend long!

***

  • And then it was time for everyone’s favorite Camp Canine contest: the Brand Ambassador contest! We had a handful of amazing campers pawticipate in the contest, and eventually it was Kirby who came out on top! She began her year-long Brand Ambassadorship in August with a photoshoot of herself and all past ambassadors. Her headshot is already up in our lobby’s Brand Ambassador Wall of Fame! Follow her on Instagram: @kirbythesammy.

***

  • In October we brought in a Pet Psychic! Carrie Kenady has been featured on the Travel Channel and Discovery Plus – and in October, she set up shop in our lobby! She got to meet our clients during her Pawp-Up and then the next day she held sessions for a dozen of our clients where she communicated with their pets – both alive and ‘angel pets.’

***

  • By the time Halloween rolled around, Camp Canine was in full prep mode – because we know that Halloween is a month where we shine! We kicked off the season with our annual Howloween Pawty – we had plenty of attendees, and it was Finn and his mom who won our costume contest with their out-of-this-world costumes!

***

  • Then it was time for our second-annual Doggy Trick or Treat Night! We saw over 500 pups swarm the Upper West Side in their costumes – it was an incredible night! It got so much buzz that Good Morning America featured the event. We love how much our neighborhood loves doing things with their pups!

***

  • Our Campers celebrated Thanksgiving at Camp with our Thanksgiving Feast Add-On sponsored by Clean Bowl Club NYC, a neighborhood small business.

***

  • And our year ended as it always does: with a Pawnukkah Pawty and a visit from Santa Paws!

Now, the holiday season is coming to an end and we’re left with a year full of memories! 2023 was an eventful year, and we can’t wait to see what 2024 has in store. We are overwhelmingly blessed to spend our days with your pups – each face kiss and cuddle, each Central Bark walk and Brain Game, each wrestle in the playroom – it all means the world to us. Thank you for sharing your camper with us. Now, onto 2024!
